Cherry-Marie B. Destura, Esq. currently serves as the Alternative Dispute Resolution Coordinator of the Los Angeles District Office of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). The EEOC enforces federal laws which prohibit discrimination in the workplace. As such, she oversees the mediation program within the Los Angeles District, which includes Central and Southern California, Southern Nevada, the state of Hawaii, and the United States Pacific territories. Prior to her current position, Ms. Destura was the Supervisory Trial Attorney in the legal unit of the Los Angeles District Office and served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the civil and criminal divisions of the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Los Angeles and in the District of Columbia.
In this session, attendees will learn: what to expect during the mediation process and how it works, how to prepare for the mediation, and the advantages to companies and/or charging parties in participating in the mediation process compared to the investigative process.
