Welcome to the SHRM Guam Chapter

Hafa Adai SHRM members and friends,

We hope you are keeping safe and practicing social distancing.  Our professional and personal lives have been challenged like we’ve never seen in our lifetime! As HR professionals, one of the most satisfying and at the same time, difficult responsibility we hold is the ability to empathize. In these difficult times, being the source of comfort for our employees is what we can do best.  As HR professionals, we are also very good at sharing information on best practices or simply just comprehending information.  As it follows, we are providing clarification on several elements of the “The Families First Coronavirus Response Act” particularly the sections referencing the Emergency Family and Medical Leave Expansion Act and the Emergency Paid Sick Leave Act. SHRM Guam VP of Legislative Affairs, Vince Camacho reviewed and researched many of the difficult elements of these Acts and prepared a chart summarizing the two Acts. You will also find the attached chart in here: FFCRA Chart. Should there be changes or clarification to these Acts, we will let you know.

It goes without saying given our situation but wanted to officially communicate that all SHRM Guam program meetings, trainings, and other activities are cancelled or postponed till further notice.  We will update you should this change.

We are all in this together!  Let’s all keep safe and continue to hope that this crisis will soon fade.  SHRM Guam is here for you and we continue to be open to any of your questions and comments.

Thank you,
Charlotte D. Huntsman, SHRM-CP, PHR
