GETTING GUAM'S TALENT BACK TO WORK
Lieutenant Governor Joshua F. Tenorio, Presiding Judge Alberto C. Lamorena III and Senator Mary Camacho Torres will jointly present on Getting Guam’s Talent Back to Work. The key to reducing recidivism and improving public safety is finding employment for people. If individuals with a criminal record can be considered for employment based on their talent and skills, the benefits for the business and community are far-reaching. Legislation such as the Fair Chances Hiring Process Act and the Judiciary’s Guam Adult Reentry Court Program are initiatives in the right direction to assist those with criminal records and the formerly incarcerated obtain gainful employment. Our panel will discuss how we as a community can do more to give opportunities to qualified people with a criminal background, deserving of a second chance.
ENGAGEMENT, MANAGING HR RISKS & RESPONDING TO EMPLOYEE COMPLAINTS
Dr. Milton J. Perkins, PhD, SHRM-SCP, SPHR, CPC and Vice President, ActOne Government Solutions will discuss “What to Do When Things Don’t Go As Planned.” There is only one way to avoid risks associated with employees – lock the doors and turn off the lights. However, as business professionals and human capital practitioners, it is our obligation to balance risks with rewards by providing employees with an environment that is safe, complies with laws/regulations, affords opportunities to excel, and one that converts their efforts to organizational benefits. The most successful practitioners balance their moral and legal obligations to employees with the fiduciary responsibility to those who fund their organizations
Join Dr. Milton J. Perkins for this edutaining presentation about how to create an engaging workplace, manage HR risks, and how to respond when employees complain.
RESPECTFUL WORKPLACES & "ACCOMMODATING" THE ADA
Glory Gervacio Saure, Director, EEOC Honolulu Local Office will present on the EEOC’s Respectful Workplace initiative and its perspectives on Harassment, #MeToo and Workplace Culture. She will also discuss the EEOC’s enforcement of the protections under the ADA, including ADAAA coverage, finite leave-FMLA/ADA intersect policies and other case specific reasonable accommodation requests.
