USERRA Compliance Update -- Understanding the Employment Rights of Service Member Employees

Don’t miss SHRM Guam’s final Breakfast Briefing of 2022!

On Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at Dusit Thani Guam Resort, David Sablan, Ombudsman Services Director of the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), and Don Clark, ESGR’s Employer Outreach Director, along with other members of the Guam-CNMI ESGR State Committee will tell us everything employers need to know to about the all-important Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA).

Guam has the highest per capita of Citizen Warriors in the National Guard and Reserve.  Our service member employees serve and protect our island and country which allows us to live freely and safely.  But, it can be a challenge with employers who still have a business to run and co-workers who take on additional responsibilities while the employee is away.

At our November briefing, the team from ESGR will explain the requirements of USERRA and how to avoid violating them.  They will also discuss ways that employers can build a better relationship with their service member employees and their military supervisors to alleviate some workplace challenges.

Two special bonus features will also be included in this briefing   The Guam Army National Guard will provide information on the Guard’s Partnership for Youth program which provides staffing opportunities for Guam employers.  Also, the cofounder of Vets for Vets, a special nonprofit organization that provides support and guidance to veterans with medical conditions, will explain how Vets for Vets can be a valuable resource to employers with veteran employees.

Please join us for this important final briefing of the year.  Register today at guam.shrm.org.
