    In this first SHRM Guam Chapter Breakfast Briefing of 2022, Mike Pangelinan, a Partner with the law firm of Calvo Fisher & Jacob LLP and SHRM Guam's VP of Programs, will discuss COVID-19 laws and regulations affecting Guam employers.  This Briefing will cover current mask wearing, social distancing, capacity regulations, and the legal status of OSHA's new Emergency Temporary Standard (ETS) requiring that employers with 100 or more employees ensure their employees are vaccinated or tested weekly, as well as how to comply with the ETS.  Related topics covered in this Briefing will include how to handle an employee's request for a medical or religious exemption and how to accommodate employees with "Long COVID" under the ADA and FMLA.

    Mike has been an attorney on Guam for over 25 years.  His practice focuses on commercial transactional work and corporate and employment law on behalf of hotels, media companies, retailers, wholesalers and service industry clients throughout the Asia Pacific region.  He is a partner in the law firm of Calvo Fisher & Jacob LLP which has office in Guam, Saipan, and San Francisco.  Mike also serves on a variety of boards and commissions, including the Guam Public Utilities Commission, Guam Conservatory of Arts, and Guam Sports Events, Inc.  Mike is VP of Programs of the SHRM Guam Chapter.
