EEOC BRINGS VIRTUAL EEO WORKSHOP TO GUAM
Federal Agency Announces Registration Open for Oct. 22 Workshop

GUAM – The federal agency tasked with enforcing federal laws against employment discrim-ination, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), announced that it will be hosting a virtual EEOC workshop for both private and public employer representatives on Oct. 22 in Guam.

EEO in a Time of Change is a virtual workshop for today’s employers. Timely topics include COVID-19 and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), harassment in the workplace, along with legal and Commission updates. Presenters for this workshop include EEOC Los Angeles District Director Rosa Viramontes, EEOC Supervisory Administrative Judge Diane Gross, and EEOC Regional Attorney Anna Park.

The workshop is geared toward attorneys, mediators, human resource personnel, union officials and equal employment opportunity (EEO) professionals in the private and federal sectors, along with other interested parties. The comprehensive training sessions will provide updates and guidance on EEO law and how to approach EEO cases the way the EEOC experts do, with an emphasis on dealing with haras-sment in the workplace and the ADA.

“With world-wide changes to employment based on an unprecedented pandemic, receiving the most up-to-date information is vital for employers,” said Rosa Viramontes, district director for the EEOC’s Los Angeles District, which includes Guam in its jurisdiction. “This virtual workshop allows the EEOC to provide technical assistance to employers throughout the South Pacific territories and provides guidance on how to address COVID-19 under the ADA and harassment in the workplace.”

Registration information may also be obtained by contacting Outreach & Education Coordinator Nicole St. Germain at (213) 785-3045 or via e-mail at nicole.stgermain@eeoc.gov The registration fee for the half-day virtual seminar is $115.
